Welcome to ROWMATE. By downloading, installing, or using the ROWMATE application ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. About ROWMATE
ROWMATE is a proximity-based social connection app that allows users to discover people nearby via Bluetooth, connect with them, and continue conversations online. The App is developed and operated by Benjamin Taieb.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 17 years old to use ROWMATE. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
3. Account & Profile
- You may create a profile with a nickname, photos, bio, and other optional information
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your profile information
- You may sign in with Apple for account persistence, or use the App locally without an account
- You must not impersonate other people or create misleading profiles
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use ROWMATE respectfully and lawfully. You must NOT:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate other users
- Send unsolicited sexual, violent, or offensive content
- Use the App for illegal activities
- Attempt to collect data from other users without consent
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use the App for commercial solicitation or spam
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit the App
- Use the App if you are under 17 years old
5. Connections & Consent
- All connections require mutual consent — both users must agree to connect
- You are only visible to other users when you manually activate the Radar
- You can block or remove any connection at any time
- Blocked users cannot see your profile or contact you
6. Content & Messages
- You retain ownership of content you create (photos, messages, profile info)
- By using the App, you grant ROWMATE a license to transmit and store your content for the purpose of delivering the service
- We may remove content that violates these Terms
- We may suspend or ban users who repeatedly violate community standards
7. Reporting & Safety
If you encounter inappropriate behavior, you can report a user directly from their profile or chat. We review all reports and may take action including:
- Warning the reported user
- Temporarily suspending the account
- Permanently banning the user
8. Disclaimer
- ROWMATE is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
- We do not guarantee the identity, intentions, or behavior of other users
- We are not responsible for interactions between users outside the App
- Bluetooth range and availability depend on device hardware and environment
- We do not guarantee continuous availability of the service
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Benjamin Taieb shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to ROWMATE at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Paris, France.
